EYING

I have been eying this decorative tray for YEARS after seeing it in my friend Sarah’s house (@lifeonvirginiastreet). It’s on sale this weekend so I’m gonna pull the trigger on the largest size to put on my coffee table.

BUYING

Not sure what took me so long because we eat so much butter in my house, but we were always taking it cold out of the fridge. I just ordered this marble butter keeper and I’m so excited to have soft butter in the morning (while not having it be an eyesore on the counter).

TRYING

For the last month I have been trying a “virtual” trainer. It’s actually a gal who used to run classes and private training at my local gym but she’s not wanting to commit to in person clients. Understandable, but I am on the fence. I love the in person connection, but it’s faster to do it at home with no chatting.

FRYING

A version of a basic Béchamel sauce is something my mom taught me as a kid. A basic recipe where butter and flour thicken milk into a sauce. Now I don’t measure since I’ve been making this for over 35 years, but I would estimate I used about 1.5 TBSP of butter and melted it over medium heat. To that I added 1.5 TBSP of flour and whisked it together. Let it cook for a minute or so. Then slowly whisk in the milk. I probably used about 1.5 cups. Since you whisk it in slowly you can always add more. Then I melted in whatever cheese I had in the fridge, which was really high end cuts like a leftover school string cheese, 3 slices of provolone, and 1 of havarti. Add seasonings to taste, I added garlic salt because I was prepping for kiddos!
