The older I get the less trendy I am trying to be, but I wanted to share what I do love for Winter fashion trends 2018. Trends are great, but I wouldn’t recommend investing much in items that may only last you a season or two. Since I generally dress pretty casual I am sharing 7 casual Winter fashion trends you might like as well.
If you saw me in middle school – YIKES – super trendy. There was a catalogue (cause online shopping was not a thing yet, imagine that) called Delia’s that I shopped from. Between that catalogue and a store called Contempo I was always trying to be on the cutting edge of (ugly teen) fashion. Luckily we didn’t have cell phones with cameras back then because – WOW – so many fashion flops.
I can appreciate people who wear bold trends, but that’s not where I am in my life right now. I’m a boring mom and I just want to look like I put in enough effort to get out of the frumpy category. My brother is amazed that some people even term me a “fashion blogger” because my “style” is weekend wear. So without further ado – the Winter fashion trends I’m looking forward to showcasing (more) this season:
Similar Eyelash Cardigan | Velvet Cami | Bralette | Necklace | Gray Denim Leggings
COZY and soft! Eyelash sweaters are so soft they scream “cuddle me”. I have several eyelash sweaters and I’m suggesting you add one or two if you don’t have any yet. This is a cozy trend, that like athleisure, benefits those of us who are creatures of comfort.
Eyelash Cardigan (wearing small) | White Tank (wearing small, slightly sheer) | Necklace | Gray Denim leggings (true to size) | Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody | Pointy Toe Booties
Oversized Sweater (wearing small, runs big) | Skinny Jeans | Necklace | Brown Booties (more sizes on sale here) | Cognac Crossbody | Sunglasses
Round toe shoes and boots had taken the reigns for awhile, but pointy toes are back. Over the knee boots are still super popular but knee high and mid calf booties are creeping in on the more fashion forward gals. I love this trend! As a mom it’s not something I will rock everyday, but definitely when I am out with friends or on date nights this is what I will be wearing!
Pom Pom Beanie | Similar Scarf | Similar Sweater | Gray Denim Leggings (true to size, amazing quality for the price) | Sunglasses | Waterproof Boots | Glass Straw Water Cup
Pom Pom Hat (part of a mommy and me set, very affordable) | Fur Stole | Peplum Tee | Skinny Jeans | Over the Knee Boots (size up) | Cognac Crossbody | Sunglasses
When it comes to pom poms; the bigger, and more, the better right now! From hats, to scarves, to throws – they’re everywhere! I happen to LOVE the pom pom trend you may have noticed from my holiday gift guides. I am embracing the trend in my home decor and in my cozy Winter fashion.
Jacket (XS) | Leggings (I got XS) | Sneakers | Glass Straw Cup | Sunglasses
Jacket | Similar Leggings | Sneakers
Hat | Fleece (XS) | Moto Leggings | Sneakers
As someone who frequently shops online I can tell you sneakers go out of stock SO FAST!!! If I order sneakers online they’re usually sold out by the time my order arrives at my door. The athleisure trend is HUGE right now.
Chunky turtlenecks are not only warm but they hide those age lines that are growing deeper if you’re in your 30’s or beyond.
Eyelash Cardigan (wearing small) | White Tank (wearing small, slightly sheer) | Gray Denim Leggings (true to size and affordable) | Necklace | Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody Bag
I happen to love Winter white denim but it’s super hard to find in stores this time of year. Gray is much easier to come by and also a good option for those of us who are still unnerved by white pants. White pants can easily highlight cellulite dimples if you don’t have the right pair (been there) but gray is more forgiving.
Sherpa Lined Coat (wearing XS) | Sweatshirt Tunic (wearing XS) | Leggings | Sneakers
Along came the athleisure trend a few years ago and now more comfortable fashion trends are following. Sherpa and fleece options are super soft and snuggly for Winter. I live in Connecticut and we have already had several days with high temps only in the 20’s. Curling up inside in some cozy sherpa pieces has made my cabin fever just a little more manageable. I also take Vitamin D all Winter and find it helps combat the Winter blues.
