This season, I focused on a neutral color palette that feels timeless and effortless. Think warm camel tones, rich chocolate browns, classic black, and creamy whites that mix and match beautifully. Building your winter capsule around these colors makes it so much easier to create outfits that look polished with minimal effort.

Winter Capsule Tops & Sweaters

When it comes to tops, I like to start with high-quality basics that layer easily and work with every outfit combination.

One of my favorite pieces is this $10 layering tee. It’s a great staple for winter and surprisingly good quality for the price. It’s not sheer, so you can wear it on its own or under a sweater or coat. I have the size small and have it in both white and tan.

I’ve also been leaning more toward natural fibers this year and this 100% cotton striped sweater is a dream. It’s soft, breathable, and adds just enough pattern to break up a neutral outfit.

If you buy just one cashmere sweater this winter, let it be this cashmere boatneck sweater. This one has easily become a favorite and it’s available in so many color options. It’s one of those capsule staples that instantly elevates jeans or trousers.

Winter Capsule Outerwear:

A good winter wardrobe always includes a few layering staples that are both functional and chic.

The cropped coat trend has been everywhere this season, and it’s here to stay for winter. I wear my chocolate brown cropped coat constantly. It’s the perfect in-between piece that looks tailored but still casual.

Every capsule wardrobe also needs a classic brown coat and a black wool coat. These are timeless outerwear staples that can be styled year after year.

Winter Capsule Bottoms:

If I were starting my wardrobe from scratch and could only choose one pair of jeans, it would be these. I love them so much I own them in three washes! They come in three inseam options, making them tall-friendly (I’m 5’11” and wear the 34” inseam). I included the white and medium wash – they’re a great way to add contrast to darker tops/coats.

And of course, a great pair of black leggings is essential. My go-to pair is an affordable Amazon find I’ve had for years.

Winter Capsule Shoes:

When styling wide leg jeans, I usually pair them with a slim, heeled boot like these chocolate brown booties to balance the proportions.

I also love a knee-high boot for winter. This pair can be worn tall or slouched, depending on your outfit.

Because winter weather can be unpredictable, I always include a waterproof boot option that’s practical and stylish.

Winter Capsule Accessories:

Keep your accessories minimal but still intentional by covering your bases with one brown bag and one black bag, along with matching belts in each color. This makes it easy to mix and match without overbuying.

And for something ultra versatile, I included this cashmere wrap. It works as a scarf, a cozy wrap over your shoulders, or even a travel blanket on chilly flights. For a more affordable option, this one has been a long-time favorite.

For jewelry, I keep it simple with these gold hoop earrings that go with everything. They’re my everyday go-to!
