In general I think shoe trends in 2025 are pushing out chunky soles and harsh colors, for softer more feminine fits. If you read fashion magazines they will spotlight some trends that might look fun on the runway but aren’t practical for real-life wear (think sandals that lace up the calf). My goal is to spotlight wearable shoe trends for 30-50 something women who aim for polished casual style.

If you were following my packing for the LTK Platinum Creator meet up in January, you know I struggled with shoes for a black dress. It feels like black shoes would be the natural pairing but black shoes are so harsh. They draw attention to your feet and I was considering wearing tights, given the temperatures, and ultimately I ended up wearing clear heels (with the help of some self-tanner) for a softer look. See the photo below to compare the two looks. Instagram story viewers overwhelmingly agreed the clear shoes were the way to go.

Shoe Trends I’m Excited to See More of in 2025:

Slingback Heels

These are a bit softer, more feminine than traditional pumps and pair well with jeans, skirts, and dresses. Slingbacks come in a variety of styles, from classic Mary Janes to higher heels and lower kitten heels. Here a few that caught my eye!

As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of patterns or prints, I love how a small pop of leopard on the shoes adds interest to classic outfit pairings. It’s a fun way to get a little trend mixed in!

Sleeker Sneakers

Unisex options are still on trend but chunky platforms and “Dad sneakers” will be less and less popular in place of shoes like the Adidas Gazelles. I have seen a lot more gals spruce up a neutral outfit with a pop of color with their sneakers. Gazelles always has lots of different color combos and I also saw these cute sneakers from Anthropologie come in fun colors. Personally, I’m a neutral gal, so that’s what I’m sticking with 🤪. I have this save sneaker from Walmart if you want to get the look for less (and these are SUPER comfortable).

Natural Textures

This is a style I have been embracing the last few summers, in particular, but I found these sling back heels that have an almost grass cloth texture to them. Hitting two trends in one shoe!

More Feminine Flats

Chunky loafers resemble menswear so I am seeing Mary Janes and softer loafers take the spotlight when it comes to flats. I am noting a resurgence of pointy toe fits after round and square toes had taken the spotlight for awhile.
