It’s safe to say I’m a strong supporter of the bralette. I understand they aren’t for every body type, but for those of us that can get away with them, they are a game-changer. Way more stylish and way more comfortable.
I get a lot of questions about styling the bralette since I’m known to wear them with so many different looks. So, today I’m rounding up some of my best tips for styling a bralette.
Obviously one of the perks of wearing a bralette is to show it off a little. Heck, I didn’t spend $40 for no one to see it, right? Not to mention, it’s amazing how much more put-together and chic a bralette looks with an off-the-shoulder top than a regular bra strap does. If I throw on an off-the-shoulder top with a regular bra I look like a mom in a rush, but when I wear a bralette with it suddenly people are less shocked I’m a fashion blogger.

The easiest bralette color is probably a nice, standard white. But, a pop of color can add some instant interest to an outfit – especially if you’re a neutral-lover like me. Try pairing a soft mint with white or pale pink with a grey or cream.

I think a lot of us forget about the deep v neck when it comes to wearing bralettes but the little bit of detail sticking out the top adds a soft, feminine detail. It’s also great for v-necks that feel a little TOO deep – if you catch my drift- to give you a little more coverage. That deep V can also be what you need to slouch a top off one shoulder (perhaps a look I’ve overplayed in the last year?).

Some bralettes are great because of their super soft, feminine straps, but I also like the intricate thicker strapped ones. They are usually adorned with elaborate lace and look so pretty with a deep v-neck or loose top.

Don’t have a lot of show off up front (my tiny-chested friends know what I mean!) – then opt for a top with an open back and fun back detail. But, nothing ruins a cute open-back top like a boring, ugly bra clasp! This is where bralettes can really shine. Show of the cute lace details in the back and rock an open-back top like a pro.

I love loose, flowy tanks – like, hello flattering on everyone am I right? But, if the style is too flowy you can easily look like you’re doing the walk of shame instead of heading out to Whole Foods for some grocery shopping. Catch my drift? Pairing these types of tops with a bralette makes the outfit look purposeful and refined instead of “it’s laundry day and I’m out of clean tops.”

I get requests for recommendations of bralettes for bustier ladies. While I don’t fit that category after nursing two babies – these seem to be good options.
Have you jumped on the bralette trend yet? If so, which is your favorite?
By the way – I just did a post about the t-shirt bra I wear. T-shirt bras are the only “real” bra I reach for on a regular basis.
