If you haven’t seen Himteresting Plans on Instagram my brother and hubby have been willing to step in front of the camera to try and help me offer you guys everyday men’s outfit ideas. So many of you were asking for ideas to dress the men in your lives, but the only men’s bloggers I knew of were pretty fashion forward. We started Himteresting Plans this year in hopes of helping the average guy find his way into a great wardrobe without the pain of the dressing room. Today we are focusing on a men’s spring capsule wardrobe in collaboration with Nordstrom.
The point of a capsule wardrobe is to whittle down your closet so that you have all the best basics that pair well with other pieces. From a well curated closet you can get dozens of outfit combinations with only around 20 pieces. Not only does this save you money but it also makes getting dressed so much easier.
My husband, Chris, certainly isn’t interested in being a trend setter, but he also doesn’t want to look frumpy. His desire to look a bit more polished can be swayed by this natural draw to comfort. When I say comfort, I mean loungewear (if Crossfit t-shirts are loungewear) – and even worse….socks with sandals!! And not just any sandals – his shower sandals from college (we are now in our late 30’s).
Pete, my brother, is known for being well dressed but his closet is SO FULL. He’s the type that can’t pass up a sale. He’s also 6’6″ so it’s harder for him to find items in his size, so when he does, he tends to buy these pieces in multiple colors. Pete, unlike Chris, does like to include some trend pieces in his wardrobe.
Nordstrom is a great place for both of them to shop because they have sizes and styles for everyone. They have men’s big and tall, carry quality basics, and many on trend pieces.
Chris is 6’2″ and weighs 175.
Pete is 6’6″ and weighs 225 lbs.
This photoshoot started out pretty smooth – I got them in some business casual outfits.
Chris’ blazer runs small. He’s a medium in tops and 32″ waist wearing the US38 and probably should have gotten the size US40.
Pete’s outfit fits true to size.
But when I asked for their best blogger poses here’s what I got….
Pete went on to dress down his blue button down shirt. It’s great for work or the weekends and fits true to size.
Doesn’t he look handsome? Must run in the family ?.
Pete insisted on giving the HimterestingPlans readers what he thought they wanted – a bum shot. I grew up with only brothers and now have 2 little boys – so this was the least bit surprising. This week I had to stop my kids from vacuuming each other’s butts ?.
Chris is rocking a Canadian tuxedo – he also wear’s this chambray shirt open over a basic white tee.
Chris is more of a stunt man than a GQ model.
They were fighting over these sneakers since they both wear about the same shoe size. They’re what I would call “fashion sneakers” for guys. They look a lot more polished than a pair of running shoes so they keep these outfits looking fly.
As you can see – New England weather wasn’t on our side – so Pete layered his white polo shirt with a zip-up hoodie. This is a great Spring layer for the gym or running errands.
Pete’s between large and XL and wearing size large here. The sleeves were ever so cropped on him since he’s 6’6″ but he often pushes his sleeves up like this anyway.
Now Chris’ turn with the sneakers…
Chris is a loungewear lover. So he wanted to style the joggers.
Chris is wearing size 33X29 in the joggers (he normally wears 32X33 in jeans).
Is it me or does he look like a soccer coach below?
The 1/4 zip pullover is one of the most versatile pieces for guys. Remember when I shared a similar sweater in this men’s sale round-up? Several Pinteresting Plans readers grabbed it for their husbands.
Any maybe my favorite piece of all for any closet – the utility jacket! This one has a hood that zips into the collar (super useful for when it’s not raining).
Doesn’t he look handsome ??!
Chris is wearing medium in the utility jacket – his usual size, and medium in the henley which is just a tad snug. The converse sneakers run big – size down .5.
I included sizing in italics above for pieces that did not fit true to size. Hopefully that helps! Nordstrom has useful sizing tips on each product page suggesting if items fit true to size or run big, etc.
Make sure to follow these handsome hunks on Instagram or Facebook for more outfit ideas and laughs. Thanks for stopping by!
And thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post.
