Hi all! Perhaps you saw on my Instagram stories we spent much of the weekend at the Delarmar Hotel in our town (West Hartford, CT). If you’re local, or passing this way (in which case, do say ‘hi’) I wanted to share some pics and what not to miss.
On arrival guests were being greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne and hot cocoa for the kids. The lobby is modern and cozy. All of the staff, from the front desk to the valet workers were super friendly.
I arrived early to check into our room and head to the spa. My husband kept the kids home so Cam (our 2 year old) could nap while I had some “me” time.
Most of my recent travel has been to NYC so the room felt extremely spacious. The decor was beautiful and the room was bright. We had a terrace off of our room – but since the temps were under 20 degrees during our stay we didn’t use it. It would be a great space for ordering a slow room service breakfast – weather permitting.
I had a blowout and curls done in the spa followed by a mani and pedi. They use Valmont products and the spa has partnered with Blo West Hartford for both hair and makeup services. If you’re staying at the hotel for a wedding or other special occasion this is a great service to take advantage of. Your own Blo stylist will come over to the hotel to pamper you.
The spa was clean and quiet. I would love to go back for a massage another time. This would be a great place for a girls’ weekend retreat – hint hint to any of my girlfriends reading this. Connecticut Winters are long – a spa retreat and just one night’s sleep in my own bed sounds amazing. Side note – if anyone has tricks for sharing a hotel room with toddlers please drop a comment below. My 2 year old refused the pack n play, whimpered, and tried to sleep ON me most of the night we stayed over.
There are dozens of restaurants (and a Whole Foods) within walking distance of the Delamar in addition to the Artisan Restaurant accessible from the hotel. We had brunch at the Artisan and the food was fantastic. Even though the restaurant appears to be a special occasion place (the decor is STUNNING) it was very family friendly.
The Artisan has a really pretty and private dining space (see below), and when the weather is nice Artisan has THE MOST BEAUTIFUL outdoor dining space in town. Also, the restaurant grows some of their own food on the property when weather permits!
Kids under 6 eat brunch free on Sundays whether you’re a hotel guest or not! The brunch was busy – definitely worth checking out even if you’re not spending the night at the hotel. Also on Sundays the hotel hosts a complimentary s’mores roast outside by the firepit. Again – it was under 20 degrees during our stay so we didn’t get to enjoy as many of the outdoor and walking distance activities as one normally could.
There is a fitness center in the basement of the hotel, but no pool. The gym has plenty of cardio as well as weights. I LOVE to exercise on vacation but we didn’t have a sitter or enough time to take turns watching the kids during this trip. If you really love a pool you can purchase a one day pass at the gym across the street which does have a lap pool.
This was the first one we’ve done as a family of 4. It was definitely fun for the kids and helped our cabin fever. I would love to go back with just my husband so we could relax more in the spa, have some quiet time, and gain some restful sleep in the room.
If you have questions about the hotel or what else there is to do in West Hartford drop a comment below and I’ll get back to you soon.

I’m wearing small/medium in this sweater (this exact color will be going live on Red Dress Boutique on January 22, 0218). The fur boots (under $40) and skinny jeans are true to size.
A special thanks for the Delamar Hotel for hosting us!
