I haven’t written a personal post lately but I just wanted to write a quick note to share the most valuable lesson blogging has reaffirmed for me….We rise by lifting others.

Prior to becoming a full time blogger I was a nurse practitioner, before that a nurse, and before that a nurse’s aide.  Above all these roles I am a mom.  All of these “jobs”, like fashion blogging, were female dominated.   In each of these roles I found women who felt competition from other successful women.   I saw friendships divide over jealousy.   Admire other’s success without questioning your own.

I can’t stress enough how many times I’ve been reminded that a sense of community over competition can raise things up for everyone.  I am part of a collaboration with the Gibson clothing brand launching November 12 at Nordstrom with a group of amazing women who support one another.  You can see us all together in the photo above, I’m standing next to Suzie – the founder of the brand – and a gal who exudes just what I’m talking about.

I laughed and threw out all my cheesy one liners when we were all together in California – but truly….a candle loses nothing by lighting another.   Pull up the gal behind you and it will only push you further ahead.   Has it ever felt bad to help someone else?   Women supporting women is the greatest strength we can offer one another.

Celebrate the success of your friends, relatives, coworkers as you’d want them to do the same for you.   I’m so excited to be collaborating with the group of bloggers I mentioned in this Gibson Glam Squad announcement.
