As a capsule wardrobe enthusiast I believe if you nail the basics there’s just a few spots left in your wardrobe for trying of the moment fashion trends. Trying too many fashion trends can make for photos you will look back on with regret. Today I wanted to spotlight 5 spring fashion trends that will elevate your polished casual style.

1. Tonal Dressing

For the last few years we had something similar to tonal dressing with monochrome outfits. Tonal dressing brings in a bit more contrast. Rather than wearing head to toe white or blue you’ll want to wear something like ercu jeans, with a bright white tee, and a light tan overcoat or belt. Or consider a dark wash chambray shirt tucked into light wash jeans. This concept even carries over to elevated loungewear looks. It’s an easy way to look chic with low effort.

2. All Things Linen

I am really trying to lean into wearing more natural fibers so linen is everywhere in my closet. Did you know you have a higher frequency wearing natural fibers compared to synthetics? I love the comfort of a wide leg pant with a fitted tee as a spring wardrobe staple.

This spring I have linen dresses, skirts, pants, shirts, and even a vest in my wardrobe. If you haven’t checked out Quince, they’re a great place to shop linen staples at a great price (they even have linen bedding).

3. Natural Textures

This is a trend I am loving in home and fashion! I spotlighted it in my shoe trend blog post earlier this year and it’s not a spring fashion trend just for shoes. I have natural textures on belts, earrings, hats, bags, and more in my closet.

4. Accessory Straps

Let’s make it convenient and make a fashion statement. Holding onto your keys, your Stanley cup, or your sunglasses can be a fashion statement. I picked up a crossbody cell phone strap after seeing them all over Europe last summer and I always get stopped about it. The wood bead one I wore most is sold separate from the case so that you can swap out different straps to match your outfit of the day if that’s your thing!

5. Coastal Prep

Since I live at the beach, I am here for this! I have not committed to a pair of boat shoes yet but I am on the hunt! Think stripes, cropped jeans/pants, and beach totes as everyday bags.

6. Wide Leg Pants (Cropped and Full Length)

This fashion trend was big in 2024 but for spring think lighter washes. I love this affordable light wash denim and I just got this cropped white wide leg denim that is included in my Spring Capsule Wardrobe for 2025. Whether worn with a kitten heel, mule, or slide sandal – wide leg pants and jeans can be dressed up or down for spring.
