This one is for my readers! I’m sharing my favorite books from the past year. Most of these book genres are centered in topics like personal development, business, spirituality. The first five listed are my favorites from 2024, then my five favorite real estate investing books, and finally my five overall favs.
This was a year of surrender for me and this book hits surrender from so many practical angles. We got this book as a gift from a friend and it was my absolute best read of the year. I will definitely reread and I like how the chapters are broken up so when I do reach for it I can advance to the sections I’m wanting to refresh (example, the “guilt” chapter).
If you work closely with coworkers in a business this book breaks down six types of “genius” most people operate from. It REALLY helped me identify my strengths and feel happy to hand things off to team members who operate in contrasting strengths.
I listened to this in February and plan to listen again this year (I take things in a little slower by audio alone). He speaks a lot about the ego and how we impede ourselves and the collective awakening. If you’re looking for more general books on spirituality this is a good way to dip your toes in.
My son and I read this together. It really goes into how video games and social media are impacting Mac’s generation. Jonathan Haidt makes suggestions for things like phone free schools, waiting until at least 16 to give kids smart phones and social media, and more.
I am a big believer in the mind/body connection. I have seen in my own body how aches and pains can be released when difficult emotions are released. If you struggle with aches and pains with no known physical trauma – consider it could be stuck emotions.
(some tactical, some more mindset):
This is a classic real estate investing book that really hones in on the importance of not just making money, but investing it. Make your money work for you through owning assets, not liabilities. Robert Kiyosaki is considered a pioneer in the real estate investing space. He is a big fan of using debt to grow massive wealth…. and so am I for those who understand how it works!
This book absolutely changed our investing journey. Saving on taxes has been the fast track to wealth building for us.
This book takes perspective less commonly evaluated in investing books, evaluating the cost of conventional forms of wealth building and success. This book is a good reset is you’re feeling overwhelmed by the continuous drive for more and want to realign with the “WHY” of it all.
This is not a commonly known book in the real estate space but I read it early on in my investing career and I found it more tactical than more marco books I was reading. If you’re looking for something a bit more like a “how to”, I took a lot away from this book as a budding real estate investor.
The name, as it suggests, leans into the concept that great things are not done alone… and shouldn’t be. If you have trouble delegating, this book is likely to shift your perspective. In real estate investing you have to build a team (or agents, lenders, accountants, contractors, etc.) to keep scaling.
This is really a book about energy and thoughts, more general to manifesting and becoming rich in life than just money.
This really helped me separate myself from my kids and put the mirror on myself and look within when moments really bother me with me kids. What triggers you is what could likely use healing.
A very old book – classic mindset on how much power our thoughts have and how to shift them in favor of abundance.
Really digs into self sabotage in a way I didn’t perceive before and it really landed for me! He gives SO MANY great examples. It’s helped me spot my own self sabotage and recognize it in others which has been REALLY helpful.
I went on to spend a lot of time and money starting a school so let’s just say this landed with me. I think education is shifting so fast and I love the perspective of Mr. Khan.
